Does anyone know either how to get into the top of an electrolux canister so that I can get at a malfunctioning switch, or whether there are instructions someplace online as to how to do this or a good diy repair site? I wasn't succesful at locating anything, unfortunately.

Alternatively, there's a lovely, reasonably-priced repairer not too far from here and I am sure he needs to work too, so ... if you think this is actually a tricky and risky little task, please let me know that as well so I can just give up before I start and bring the thing to him. I'm happy to do that. OTOH if it's a super-easy tweak, I like to have a hand at that. I fixed my washing machine twice now and am feeling very empowered. ;)
