These glorified microwaves are an OK alternative to a second oven if cost, space, and frequency of use are concerns for getting a double oven.

They are NOT real ovens though ! There is no exposed broiler element and no traditional bake mode (bottom heat) either. They have turntables and no built in rack systems, so the "baking" functions are cumbersome because you have to go get the cheesy round stacking racks and put them on the turntable. They can't be left in , because you can't use the microwave feature then !

These things are basically only good for "baking" a frozen pizza, heat n eat rolls, like sister schubert's, or making wet side dishes like green beans and mushroom soup, ect.... They are not going to "replace" a regular oven.

thank you so much! I don't really need two ovens (have lived with 1 for 15 yrs) but if it is cumbersome in any way this is reason enough to stick with our original plans and find a spot for our current micro (which is just a micro and works wonderfully!)

YOu can get a custom trim kit for any microwave and build it in place it above your single oven just like you would have that DCM24.
