I cannot address the induction range specifically. However, when we purchased all new appliances, we decided to get a whole house surge protector due to all of the electronic components in the appliances. Since DH was able to install it himself, the cost was very reasonable for the potential protection.

We have also installed a whole house surge protector. With all the electronics today, we think this is a wise move.

I have installed surge protectors at the incoming breaker cabinets also, and that is in addition to more local means of protecting computer and hi-fi electronics.

So far my 36-inch 2007 Kenmore Elite (Electrolux Icon) has not yet failed.

In order for surge protectors to be a helpful as they can be, it is important that modern bonding and grounding approaches be in use at the boxes the surge protectors protect.
