for anyone with a similar issue with whirlpool, ka or kenmore, there is a known problem with the units catching on fire. certain models have been recalled but mine was not a recall model however because i smelled a burning electrical smell, they are sending out a service guy to guy it out gratis since its out of warranty. cs was very nice and helpful. if anyone else has concerns the number i called was 800-422-1230. afet a few questions, i was routed to a safety team

Did they ever say what was wrong? We are having the exact same smell with the exact same model number. Ours is not even 3 years old. I called the number you provided. (Thanks!) They are sending someone out, but we are out of warranty and have to pay the mandatory $90 visit/diagnose fee.
