LaCanche - serviec issues or patron saint of no service?

Posted by chris11895 (My Page) on

I have read through the LaCanche threads and unless I've missed someone's posting I have yet to see discussions about service needs. Are these ranges worry free, for the most part? We are in love with the looks and the custom specs but wanted to know if anyone has bought one and been disappointed after having service issues, etc. Thanks in advannce for the feedback!

I have never even seen a LaCanche range, nor have I seen any other product in any category with as impressive a range of technical support videos done by its US importer:

Here is a link that might be useful: French Ranges - Technical Support

Some folks have had to do minor repairs on their ranges, and Art Culinaire has shipped them the parts, then talked them through the step-by-step process.

Essentially, though, they are very simple ranges technically, so not much can go wrong.

Lacanche ranges are fairly basic. The customer support from the distributor is very good, although it's mostly via telephone. They're reliable and fast in sending out whatever parts might be needed.

That being said, since the ranges are basic and time-proven technology, any appliance repairman with basic knowledge would be capable of making repairs with parts provided by the distributor. There's no space-age or proprietary technology involved -- so little to go wrong.
