Mostly because it's made in France !

Think about that next time some one tries to tell you we NEED another big (or even small) government program.

It also has a lot of high quality materials that go into it. All that brass you see is really brass , and it alone weighs more than most $1500 ranges you see at your local lowes, h.depot, appliance store.

It's also a low volume item, so the cost / margin / profit structure is a lot different than on a sell em by the truckload range.

Even at half off - it's still a lot of moola.

It is beautiful, but I'm guessing only in the BA would someone plunk down that type of cash for a 30" range and then barely use it.

I do have to giggle at the listing -- the title sort of reads "cat'water"
