LG Compact Washer and Dryer or Frigidaire Affinity if Side Vent??

We need to replace our washer and dryer in our winter condo. (We are there about 5-6 months/yr.)

Our space is limited.... We have 31" deep and 31" width.

Our options are limited, but we were told we may be able to re-route the dryer venting to the side of a 27" wide Frididaire machine so we don't have to get a small (24") LG unit.

Is it hard to change a back venting dryer to a side venting one? I know we have to buy a sidevent kit, but how is the actual installation. (Best Buy and Lowes won't do it.)

Would you go with a Frigidaire Affinity (FAFW3801 LW) or the compact LG WM1355HW washer and matching dryer. I'd rather get a normal capacity front loading machine that stacks, but I am concerned about quality, and it sounds like Frigidaires are not the most reliable machines (but what are these days?!)

The other consideration is that the LG smaller stackable units are about $900 each instead of $600 or so for the larger Affinity one.

LG? Whirlpool? Frigidaire???? Side vent or just get the smaller, pricier LG that will fit fine????

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
