Consider the Bluestar cooktops. They are better for wok cooking with really high output burners. I have a 30" bluestar cooktop on order. It is only four burners though. I took my wok and large pots to the showroom and was able to work comfortably with there items on the cooktop at one time. I am also getting a single 15" induction burner to go with it. The Bluestar was $1500 when I ordered in December. The Miele Induction burner that I am looking at is $1200 and it is 15" wide. I don't know if you have enough space for such a setup. I am replacing a 48" Dacor gas cooktop with closed burners. I would not recommend a closed burner setup. The woks that I use are mainly 14" and 16".

In case you are not aware, the difference between a drop in cooktop and rangetop is that the drop in cooktop has the burners on the countertop while the Rangetop has the burners in the front of the unit. You have more back to front (depth) in the rangetop than you do in the cooktop.

If you are able to stretch your budget another $500 and can reconfigure your cabinet to support a Rangetop, I would get a 30" Bluestar Rangetop. The main advantage of the range top is that you don't have to use the Wok burner ring like the 30" cooktop from Bluestar. You could also consider the Capital Rangetop in 30" that is an open burner. There are a large number of youtube videos that show how these burners wok. With the rangetop, you can also get colored knobs which you can't get with the cooktop!
