I have a Kitchen Aid counter-depth side-by-side that I purchased in the end of 2006 after our kitchen remodel was compleated. The freezer section (on the left) is very narrow and difficult to get large boxes to fit. Because of this, we'd like to replace it with a french door, but would still need to be counter depth. So far, the LG LFX25991ST seems to be the best out of the bunch that I've seen.

Will the new GE models have a counter depth unit? Are there any additional pictures?

It looks like the GE Profile Counter Depth model (which they don't list the cu/ft size of) and the standard-depth 29 cu/ft model will both have the water auto fill. Only the GE Cafe model will have the hot water dispenser.

I'm a little choked up right now.

I sent GE an email asking if they new the capacity of the counter depth model, and they replied back saying it will be 23 cu/ft, but they didn't have the rest of the dimensions listed yet. Still is expected to be released in the summer.

The first appliance I want to replace is the range with the GE Profile Induction Slide-in hopefully later this year.
After that the only non-stainless appliance is the fridge. Right now its a Kitchen Aid 24 cu/ft side-by-side in bisque that I got in 2006. If I were to replace it now, my best option is counter depth french door from LG, but don't care for its water dispenser. That's why in interested in this new GE Profile counter depth french door. My issue is that the cabinet height space for my current fridge is 72", but all the current french doors are about 68" height, which would leave a 4" gap at the top. Have to wait until the specs for the GE to see what it's height is.

Fauguy, if I understand this right, you may be able to put in a ~4" high louvered wooden grate, matching your cabinets, to fill the gap while allowing air to circulate over the new FD fridge.

Look like AJMadison is showing up with some of the new GE french door models. First is the 27cu/ft Profile PFE27KSDSS standard depth. But not sure if any of these have the auto-water fill feature that is listed on the GE site that would be on their top-of-the-line Profile standard depth and counter depth units.

I've seen the PFE29 model at HomeDepot. I really like the ice and water dispenser on it compared to the LG models. But one thing I like on the LG is the easy pull freezer handle, as it requires less pull to open the bottom freezer than the GE. Still waiting to see when the PYE23 counter depth model will be out.

Home Depot will have the counter-depth autofill available for order in May!

As you may know, last year GE had a new french door unit come out, PFE29PSDSS that one of its features is hands-free auto fill for the water dispenser. I've seen it at H.D. a couple times, and it's a nice unit, but was waiting for the counter depth model.

Last night I was looking at AJ Madison, and they have a few new models listed:

The counter-depth PYE23PSDSS has the exact same features as the standard depth PFE29PSDSS, including the hands free auto fill.

Another counter-depth PYE23KSDSS is the same size, though lacks the hands free auto fill, but does come in black and stainless.

GE Cafe standard size CFE29TSDSS, and counter depth CYE23TSDSS, both have a separate hot water dispenser but lacks the hands free auto fill.

Since I have a KitchenAid side-by-side counter depth, the one I'd be most interested in replacing it with is the PYE23PSDSS, since it has the same features of the larger PFE29PSDSS.

While at Home Depot yesterday, I had the lady in the appliance dept check the new GE model numbers. The Cafe CYE23TSDSS counter-depth was in the system with a price of $2999 and a date of May 31 with 10 units on order. The Profile PYE23PSDSS counter-depth was not listed in the system,.

After looking on-line, I found the site Goedekers has the Cafe one for $2638 and the Profile one for $2298, but lower than AJMadison.

There are a few new models that are in the process of coming out, so no reviews yet. But the original model that came out last year has pretty good reviews on the GE site.

Has anyone heard these newer GE models plugged in? On a spec guide to the GE Profile PYE23PSDSS (CD), GE mentions the high pitch hum as normal due to twin compressors which ramp up and down with door opening and temperature changes.

Has any one heard the hum? Was it annoyingly high pitch?

While I was at Home Depot today, I took a look, and they now have the new GE Cafe CFE29TSDSS on display right next to the Profile PFE29PSDSS that has been there since last year.

Since I was able to see both next to each other, it's a toss-up as to which one looks better - or has the better features.

The Profile has the curved doors & handles, and the hands-free auto fill for water.

The Cafe instead is more square (no curves) and the handles look more "industrial". Instead of the hands-free auto fill, the Cafe has a hot water dispenser. While I find this interesting, the knob that you have to turn and push in felt a bit flimsy.. also, I'm wondering how "repairable" the heating coils are and if there is a way to descale them, since it is sealed within the door. When you look up inside the water dispenser, you can see two water hoses, for cold and hot water. Inside of the unit has a new odor remover that has a replaceable carterage and a LED lights that change color in the temp controlled deli drawer. Also, the bins on the sides of the doors are styled a bit different.

So it seem that the Cafe has some newer features that are missing on the Profile (odor removal, colored LED in deli drawer, different styled door bins), thought the Cafe has the hot water maker, while the Profile has hands-free auto fill.

I'm not sure how much use I'd get from the Cafe's hot water maker, since it only takes 3 min in the microwave to heat water for tea. And how long will the hot water maker last in the fridge before needing service.

GE packs 24 cu feet into it's 69" tall FD CD new GE Cafe Series CYE23TSDSS. Not much fits on the water dispensor side as far as I can see.

I understand GE is making a big effort to both be creative and functional. I'm not sure what to make about the hot water dispenser either, but I like most of the other. Wish the Cafe refrigerator got better reviews.

For me, it's between this and a Jenn Air CD-same as last years model, unless new models are released soon. I like the water dispenser in the fridge. I did see this model at Sears, and the FD door seal was broken as was the ventilation piece on the bottom.

I saw the CD Profile, and liked it as much as the JA. Now that my kitchen is being gutted, I can get full size. I saw the Cafe, and it had nicer features than Kenmore Elite and KA (like rubber mats on shelves on door, smaller water dispensor (I don't like those huge ones), and the hot water. The handles on the Profile match other appliances better than the Cafe ones.

Anyone have a review on any of these new fridges? Looking at the Profile PFE29PSDSS. I've also looked at the KA equivalent, and I just keep coming back to GE. I like the look of the Cafe version better I think, but much rather have hands-free fill than hot water. I understand GE had a bad rep previously for refrigerators....think the US plant will change that?
