Something is wrong. A 48db is barely audible. Is the kick plate on properly? I know that can be tricky. Are the side gaskets fitting properly? If the installation is correct, you need to call service.

Agreed. Something is wrong. They are about the quietest DW around.

Agree with gini2 and muddypond - My Bosch is something like 57 db and I can barely hear it.

When mine was first installed, my local laws require an air gap, so one was put in and it made this ridiculously loud gurgling noise. I was so cheesed off because I felt I had paid a premium for a quiet dishwasher and had this noisy gurgling thing. After receiving advice from this forum (thanks Weissman and others) I switched to a high loop underneath and now have a nice quiet DW.

Soooo! What is it that you are hearing? Is it the actual sound of the dishwasher running? Is it an electronic or mechanical sound? Is it the sound of water gurgling? Let us know.

It's not SILENT it's quiet, mabey your expectations are too high?

We have a Bosch - very quiet. Our family room and the kitchen are basically one big room and I can't hear my Bosch at all.

Something is amiss with your installation. I'd have it checked.

I would guess that part of the =DW is touching a cabinet side or wall when it's not supposed to, and the vibration is resonating. Check for binding/contact.

I agree that you should not be able to hear much at all. You'll hear some water going in, and some going out, but if you're talking or the TV is on, you shouldn't hear it if it's properly installed and not defective.
