If you're seeing damage to a range control panel surface the first thing I'd check is the seal around the oven door because heat is escaping somehow.

I just replaced the completely-melted handle on my PGR30 with no help at all from Dacor's website which is inadequate and does not even list that model number. The cost of the plastic handle was an outrageous $130. The oven door also suffers from what I have read is a common problem with Dacor: the hinges are poorly made or adjusted so the door won't quite close. Without forming a seal, it takes much longer (and burns more gas) than it should to reach the designated temperature and it's all but impossible to get above about 435deg F.
