New Amana French door Refrigerator Freezing Food?

Posted by bluebeach (My Page) on

Hello,
I just had my second brand new Amana refrigerator delivered and it (like the first one) freezes food instead of keeping it at proper temperature. I was wondering if anyone ever had this problem and how it was solved. This refrigerator is in our summer place so it will not always be loaded with food -- the tech did tell me that may be the problem. I however have an extra fridge at home that I only use one in a while and I never have the freezing problem. This Amana I'm having a problem with is model AF12538AES -- and was recommended by Consumer Reports. Any ideas I'd appreciate! Thanks!

That's the model# of my Amana. If I put something on the top shelf right next to the icemaker, I sometimes find it is a bit icy. I now place things there that won't be a problem if it's colder - such as cuts of meat, 2 liter sodas, etc. I'm not experiencing any freezing problems elsewhere in the refrigerator.

Is the icemaker connected to a cold water supply and making ice? If not, you need to turn the icemaker off until the water hookup is complete. Otherwise it will freeze food in the refrigerator section. Remove the ice bin and you'll find an on-off switch on the side of the icemaker.
