Hood Liners 27 inch depth?

Posted by kitreno08 (My Page) on

We are starting our kitchen reno next week (!) and are having a difficult decision regarding the look of the ventilation over our 48" Bluestar. Does anyone know if liners for custom hoods come in 27" depths? If we went stainless pro style hood - which company: Viking or Wolf or a Broan (we want baffles)???? Thanks in advance for the help!!!

I have a wolf 36 inch ag. I spent a lot of money for the range hood. I went with the wolf. But not the 27 inch. What a mistake. When you are using the oven and you open the door of the oven if there is any smoke or steam it misses the hood capture area. I spent a lot of money on the ventilation because I did not want to have a greasy build up on my new cabinets. I had a hood in my last kitchen but not efficient. I wish I would of even built out the range to accomplish this. You have a powerhouse of the range so make sure you do your homework. I know for a fact thermador makes what you want. I loved the look of that hood but didn't think I needed one that large. LOL

I don't think you'll find a liner that's 27" deep, but you will find one that's around 22" and can be extended by the cabinetry. Independent makes various models as does Wolf and Broan, etc. We have a Wolf Pro Island hood and will be installing an external blower, which is what I would probably select for such a powerful range.

Here is a link that might be useful: Independent Range Hoods

I would be surprised if you couldn't find one in 27 with baffles since you can easily find it non baffle in a Vent a Hood.

We are going with 27" depth, there was another thread about this and those that didn't go with this depth regretted it.

I have looked at VentAHood and Windcrest. VAH offered the baffles if you took an outside motor, as did WC. Now I am told that WC will offer it on all models.

However, the one thing I can say about VAH is that they seem to be willing to do any set up you want, obviously for a price.

I purchased a vent a hood liner and then had the outside box rebuilt to fit our requirements (27 inch deep by 59 wide). This solution provided me with a surface that is 100% efficient and cleanable. The additional cost to build the box (it's an exact replica of the original but bigger) was about $1300. It is well worth the cost to have a box that fits exactly where you want it to.

I think you'll find that any 27" deep hood has a smaller "liner" inside into which the smoke/fumes actually go. Some of that depth is taken up by lights, controls, and inside edges. In other words, a 27" liner would actually be bigger than a 27" deep hood; put differently, as noted above you can build a capture area as you want even though the liner is only 22" or so.
