RE: miele speed oven or turbochef?

These are not really the same class of appliance.

The T'chef is a full sized full featured oven that cooks stuff really fast because of superfast heated air movement. It does not have a microwave feature.

The Miele speed oven is a really good jack of all trades that can be a microwave, a typical convection oven, or a combination of the two. That is how it derives it's "speed". It is a lot smaller than a full sized oven, (Turbochef), but is great for a second oven in limited spaces, or as a smaller option for empty nesters or singles.

What is , and did you tell designer, your criteria for this oven and your "speed" requirements.

In other words - how do you plan on using this thing?

Turbochef is cute.

Turbochef does now microwave.

I have a list of "enhancements" for the newer models from TC. According to TurboChef it can bake, roast, broil, air-crisp, toast, dehydrate and operate as a microwave! I haven't seen these features listed on the website but I do have a pdf of them if anyone wants them via email.

re: miele speed oven or turbochef? more info

Here is the info from the sheet - cut/pasted-
MICROWAVE: When choosing the "Microwave" function the oven operates as a standard microwave oven. To access
this function:
1. Select the "Favorites" mode on the CookWheel.
2. Select "Microwave" and press "Start" or the inner CookWheel knob.
3. Set the desired time and power level. Place food in the oven and press "Start" to begin.
The power level automatically defaults to 100%.
4. When the microwave cycle is complete, remove dish from the oven.
When the time reaches zero, the oven will chime letting you know the microwave cycle is complete. To add additional
cook time press "Start." The oven automatically defaults to a cook time of 10 minutes. To alter the time, follow the
instructions in step 3 above.
WARNING: Dish and inside of oven are HOT – remove food with caution.
5. When done cooking, turn the oven off.
NOTE: Microwave cycles can not be saved to Favorites and will not appear in "View Last Cooked (10)."
Use the inner CookWheel knob to set the time. Press "Start" or the inner
CookWheel knob to select. The oven advances to % Power. Using the inner
CookWheel knob, set the power level. When done, scroll to "Start" and press
"Start" to begin cooking.

NIce to know about the TC micro feature. This slipped by me. I don't think their publicist has done a good job of getting the word out on this.

antss - I completely agree with you!

The local dealer here had a sales rep that didn't even know about it. Actually, he wasn't very on top of it on a few things - but he was very friendly.....(this was on a visit for w/d)
