Dishwasher Blues

I have a Kitchenaid dishwasher with issues. The first thing that happened was whatever supports the door so it just doesn't fall apparently broke. I need to know if cables are used to lower the door and what it takes to changed them. The next thing that happened was while in the middle of a wash cycle the door opened up on its own and since the door supports were already broke the door fell straight down. I thought the dishwasher was suppose to lock the door once the cycle started. When I closed the door to try to get the washer to start again all I get is a blinking green light. Does anyone have a idea why the door would all of a sudden unlock itself and what it takes to repair the door supports?

RE: Dishwasher Blues

There are either cables, springs, or combination of both to counterweight the door for opening & closing. Including the model number in your post would provide for parts look-up.

Dishwasher doors do not electrically lock during operation except on a few specific brands/models.

RE: Dishwasher Blues

I fixed the above problem concerning the door support. But after I fixed that problem another one presented itself. When I went to turn it on after fixing the door and I hit the start button it will not turn on and there is a green light that keeps blinking just to the left of the Start button. Any idea what the problem might be?
