Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Posted by rickc (My Page) on

The 10% return promotion this month by Electrolux list this range as qualifying for the promotion, but the range is not out yet. I can't get any information on features but was told by dealer cost would be $3,199. I called Electrolux twice and got different responses, but couldn't get any details on features, or picture of new model. The last service rep. said she checked with supervisor and said range still in testing and instead of coming out in March, would be later.
Any details on new unit?

Heard back from Electrolux:"Thank you for contacting Electrolux Major Appliances. We have attached the specifications for the slide in induction range. It is currently available." They sent pdf file with picture and information. It is 4 burner and has "perfect pair lower oven"
I can't understand why this email said it is available but when I called Electrolux yesterday they said it was in testing and isn't available. Go figure.

rickc,

Are the range-top controls all electronic, or does it have
knobs?

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

rickc, Is it possible for you to post the pdf file somehow so we can see it?

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Not sure how to post a pdf file. Glad to post pdf if someone knows how to do this.
The controls are all electronic. Burner arrangement like sears. Lower oven( size of drawer) can be used for cooking things like pies.

Is this it?

They didn't happen to mention when a freestanding version might be available, did they?

Here is a link that might be useful: Electrolux induction range

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

The price they have on the website isn't bad for a slide-in. I suspect a freestanding will come later at around $3200-$3500 considering the price of their current freestanding range.

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

We saw a TV commercial with Kellie Ripa that showed this induction slide-in and that is how I ended up here (my first post). Yesterday the Electrolux web page did not have a bit of info, today it is on thier web site. $2999 is actually cheaper than the Kenmore's MSRP but Sears never sells it at that price, it is always on some sort of sale. So once you factor in street pricing the Electrolux may not be much different than the Kenmore. And the Electrolux has those great sliding racks. We've been looking at the Kenmore for our kitchen remodel. My wife really like the electrolux oven and the gliding racks, so maybe we can wait a bit to see how this unit pans out. I'd be a little worried buying a brand new design. The Kenmore had some issues with the control panel but I think those have been worked out. Anyway, thanks for those on this site tracking this stuff down, I really appreciate it. Great source of info.

I hated the look of the kenmore - that big glass edged panel sticking out. It just looked like it was asking to get chipped or broken.

I like the electrolux much better, but I decided a while ago to go with separate units mostly because I didn't want stainless. Though if this had come out before I bought mine, I would have needed to think long and hard about reconsidering - this unit has a lot of nice features.

I wish the Electrolux ovens were reversed. The smaller oven on the top the bigger oven on the bottom. I know I would use the smaller oven more. Does anyone know of a freestanding induction range with two ovens, with the smaller oven on top?

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Agree about the oven reversal. I think Electrolux is the only induction range with 2 ovens.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Are these available now to qualify for the 10% return (in form of American Express card I think)? The promotion ends on 2/21. Anyone try to preorder and what did they say about 10%?

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I went to a Sears this evening and they did not yet have this in thier system. I haven't found it on line either. From the picture I've seen the cook top has the extra stainless bar separating the cook area from the control panel. I've heard that boil-overs can run down beneath this bar and disable the control panel. I wonder why they would not have put the new style single glass top on this new range? At least the Kenmore's control panel is protected. And the part of the panel that sticks out does not seem prone to damage to me.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I forgot to mention in my post that the salesman told me on 21 Feb from 6pm to 9pm Sears will have 20% + 10% off all Kenmore appliances. Some sort of friends and family sale. A total of 39% off is quite a sale. I think most of the day it will be 20% off, the extra 10% is only from 6-9 pm.

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

texaskitchentoo -- I bought my Kenmore Induction Slide-in around Halloween for $2099 -- I have never seen it this cheap again -- even the "reconditioned" units at the outlet are more than this.

I also got a deal on the extended warranty because I told them it was outrageous what they wanted for it. It was like $50 or $100 more the the warranty for a "normal" electric slide-in.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

The website now says the price is $3199 (it said $2999 over the weekend). Bummer.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

pudgybaby, I also saw that tonight (bummer)... and I wrote to AJ and they gave me the same price minus about 10%. I asked my local Lowes to see if they can get a price. Likely to be the same thing. I was hoping a cheaper range might bring down the price of the others.

I do like the look of the Electrolux and the nice oven racks are a bonus. I'd be a little worried about being an early adoptor.

I tried to e-mail electrolux with a question but their web site doesn't take my submission.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Their website has been having trouble for the past few days. I have emailed them in the past with questions about their ovens and the new Icon induction cooktop. They have always responded quickly and with the information I've requested. I'd wait a day or two and try again.

My friend who works at an appliance store says the free standing range is scheduled to come out fourth quarter - later this year.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Has anyone had problems with the front panel on the Elextolux slide in? The induction is the same style. It seems like an odd way to model it.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I am also interested in knowing about potentential problems with front panel on the Electrolux slide-in. A rep from Electrolux said they would honor 10% promotion that ends this month even although he said range not be available for delivery until about mid-march.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Now the Electrolux site lists the MSRP as $3,499! ^%$#!

It was first listed at $2,999 which I thought might be fair, then it went to $3,199, now 3,499? Come on!

I think it is now outside my price range. At this rate it will cost more than my car in a few weeks.

The Kenmore, 30% off on 21 Feb sounds a lot better.

Now Available at AJ Madison

AJ Madison now has this available on thier web site and can be ordered... at the $3,199 price minus a small discount. There is also a pic of the cooktop. It looks newer than the stand alone cooktop but it still has that bar that separates the cook area from the control area. Maybe they have sealed this up. The surface is flat from front to back. It looks nice.

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I believe it was "lip2000" that posted the problem of water getting past the stainless steel bar and disabling her cooktop for a couple days. I did call Electrolux and they sent me 2 emails regarding the problem---neither any help, first one "wipe the control area dry", the 2nd email, "There is no fix for this problem". I have the same unit, and had no problems, but I have'nt spilled water on it or had somnething boil over, and as ya saw I always cover it with paper towels when I cook anyway. Having had a Very Expensive and Fanciee cooktop (Not an Electrolux) that was disabled in less that 2 years due to somnething gettin on the control area and not being able to clean it off, I think You are expressing a valid concern, and I would Call Electrolux to see if they have sealed off those controls on this new Induction Range.
Even thou I love my Electrolux appliances, I would not wish on anybody what wife and I went thru with that fancy cooktop!!!

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

dodge1959- Could you please give us the name of the Very Expensive and Fancieee cooktop you had problems with?

I would love the Electrolux 30 " induction range, but that leaking controls thing is a concern, as it the rather distant delivery dates.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

e4849. The fancieee cooktop was made my Caldera Corp out of Vermont. It was not induction but radiant, and everything stuck to the cooktop. The company went "Belly Up" a year ago--Alto I believe somebody took over the Gas cooktop part of the business. It was their intent to market a gas cooktop with touch controls, but I don't think that one was ever released. Ya know it's kinda funny, We "Specifically" bought the Icon Induction cooktop because the controls were (well we thought anyway) Isolated from the rest of the cooktop, and hence would receive no spills or other contamination---like what totalled the Caldera. Course after seeing no compalints with any touch controls on any of the induction units, cept the one posted about the Icon---kinda makes ya wonder.
Not sure how many they sold (Icon Inductions) so cept for the post on GW haven't seen any other problems.
Still Strange, their new (Electrolux) induction cooktop no longer has the stainless---yet I guess their new Drop ins, Ranges etc will have----Go figger?

Thanks, texaskitchentoo. I ordered from AJ Madison this afternoon. I guess I'm the guinea pig.

I hope it works out...

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Great pudgbaby. Did you ask about the rebate? You can get the form from the Electrolux site but you have to have a recepit dated between 4 and 21 Feb. I'm wondering if they charged you up front or will they bill you when it ships? An earlier poster said Electrolux would still honor it but how do you insure this?

I'd be interested to hear your experience with AJ since we might end up buying from them too. I've bought a lot of things on-line but never an appliance.

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Texaskitchentoo: all good questions, many of which I can't answer. I went on blind faith, based on what I read here and saw happening with the price.

I'm pretty sure that I won't be charged until it ships, but not certain. I had called Electrolux to ask about the rebate on Tuesday (the day before I ordered on Wed), and was told the release was being pushed out until October??? I figured that was the stand-alone version, and I told the rep that, but I didn't get anywhere. So, I didn't have an answer on the rebate.

I REALLY want this range and I figured I'd rather pay $3200 without the rebate than wait and pay $3500 without the rebate. My worries are more about having trouble because it's such a new product, probably with bugs to work out.

I'll contact Electrolux today and see what they say, and keep you posted on how everything goes.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I wouldn't consider this that much of a "new" product as Electrolux has been making the Sears one for some time. If they had come out with this 6 months sooner I would probably have one, but now I'm happy that I chose to go with the double wall ovens and a seperate induction cooktop (both electrolux, but the cooktop is Icon).

I've got to fill out my paperwork to get the rebate on the wall oven - my cooktop does not quailify. Like said above, the new cooktop does not have the metal divider bar. I asked the salesman and he said he'd never heard of anyone having problems - but you always wonder if they would even tell you if that was the case.

I am so anxious to get mine installed! They are both in the house so I can at least look at them.

RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

OK. I called Electrolux today and was told that as long as I purchased the range during the dates valid for the rebate (they said my order date was the purchase date), they will still honor it even if it is postmarked after 4/21 (the form says 4/21 is the postmark deadline). Hopefully I will get the range before 4/21!

We'll see when it comes and if I get the rebate... I'll update this thread or start a new one whenever I get more info.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

I am stuck in range-less land.

I had originally allowed a 30" induction range. Now the KD thinks I should go for 36" because of the oven size, and I have room for it.

I so wish someone made a 36" french-style (colored) slide-in induction range.

The 30" Electrolux is my backup choice, but I am very dubious from all these posts that it would be delivered before fall. Their original "availablity date" was supposed to be January 2010.

 o
RE: Electrolux Induction Range- slide in EW30IS65J

Those who purchased this, how do you like it now that you've been using it for a while? I'm strongly considering getting one. I'm also trying to find out when a freestanding model will be available, anyone know?

Thanks!
