We just went through buying another one to replace the one we bought less than 18 months ago. If you do a search here with mboston, you will see my long posts about Samsung and our dealings with them. Too much to retype but... our second fridge is also a Samsung - mainly because I could not find another brand that I liked as much.

Good luck. Read as many reviews of all the brands that you can. Try to stay away from "new types of ice makers, etc." Go with what has been out a year or so and look for reviews that are written after the owner has had the fridge and not when its brand new.

BTW, make sure to register your fridge with the company - you might get an additional 3 months of warranty - it saved us repair costs since that is when we started having issues - at about 14 months.

I love the icemaker in my 12 year old KA fridge and have had no problems with the fridge or icemaker. But more recent models of ALL brands have various problems of all sorts. If reliability is really high priority for you, you might skip the icemaker.

I have also just been informed by out warranty company that they credited us (at the appliance store where we bought all of our appliances) the price of our Electrolux CD FD refrigerator. Fortunately, the appliance store offered a 5 year extended warranty for $70/appliance. The icemaker broke 1 1/2 years ago and they replaced it. It still made horrible ice and the ice took on the smell of foods in our refrigerator. It broke again 3 months ago. This time they said they wouldn't fix it. I will never buy another Electrolux. It seems like most people like their LG. I am going to look at that one today.
