Do you have access to Consumer Reports ratings and reliablity surveys?

If not, I see that Bosch ranges are not currently on CR's radar for testing, so there is no test of the HE1728.

As for brands to recommend or avoid, the CR membership surveys indicate the following: over the last five years, GE electric stoves (which includes Hotpoint and some Kenmore models) have had the fewest problems (about 5%) followed closely by Whirlpool (6%) and Frigidaire (8% -- and whose parent appears to make most of the other Kenmore ranges which also show about an 8% problem rate.) The brands of electric stoves with the worst rates are LG at 12% and Kitchenaid and JennAire at 13%. The problem rate for KA and JA is curious because both are Whirlpool brands but they exhibit twice the problem rate of the stoves sold under the Whirlpool brand.

Most of my hands on experience with recent electric ranges is limited to induction models rather than the radiant smoothtops you seem to be looking at.

Also, are you looking at the HE1728 model (which I could not find when I checked Lowe's and AJ Madison) or, maybe, the HE17282u? Also, I found one thread here about Bosch, KA and JennAir electric slide-ins. The link is below..
