Paint and stain for customizing a kitchen vent?

Hi everyone.

What kind of paint and stain would be the best to customize a kitchen vent? The body is metal with a white plastic coating, and the trim on the bottom is solid wood.

The paint guy at my local Home Depot recommended "high-heat appliance paint", but wasn't too sure if it would stick to the plastic powdercoat... also wasn't 100% sure what stain to use for the wood trim that would stand up to heat, steam, and grease.

I don't want to have to redo the paint job in a couple of years... would appreciate any advice... thanks!

Have it beadblasted and powder coated at a local shop. You're not going to be successful with any home job over powder coating. The wood needs to be removed for that to happen, and you need a pro woodworker to finish it for you in your color of choice.
