I have to tell our cabinet maker on Monday if we're using our chosen 3cm marble slabs "as is" on both our countertops and island, OR, if we are going to have the edges for the island laminated to a full 6cm thickness.

My fabricator has done 100's of these type laminations with good result.. BTW, we're using a square/eased edge profile.

What I'm hoping for is feedback from others who's had their islands laminated for a thicker look and have lived with this for some number of years...

I have three specific concerns:

1 - How noticeable is the seam?

2 - Is the edge fragile and/or more prone to chipping?

3 - has the seam yellowed over time due to UV?
