KitchenAid Dishwasher Leaking Water - Defective Pump Clamp Recall

Posted by mn_runner (My Page) on

After dinner, we ran the dishwasher (KitchenAid KUDE60FXSS4) which was replaced by KitchenAid in Jul 2012 due to fire on the previous KitchenAid dishwasher and the pump assembly unit came off due to defective clamp. There is a huge recall due to faulty hose clamp. Although my model is not part of the official recall, the service technician used the recall kit (part # W10548435)to repair. There is nothing worse than dishwasher catching fire or leaking water and flooding your basement. The new clamp is the one you can tighten with a flat screw driver and the defective one you cannot (it just broke off). Please check so you don't go through this problem.

WoW , first their dishwashers catch on fire, and then their fix is to flood your house.

At least they didn't repeat the same mistake.

Mystery Recall - my client experienced a clamp failure and the KitchenAid KKUDE70FX dishwasher flooded their kitchen (end of January '13). Does anyone have specifics on the 'recall'? Our supplier checked and says KitchenAid is unaware of this problem, but the service technician who came out says he sees this failure on a regular basis. Who's telling the truth? Confused...HELP please.

I'm sure the tech is putting you on , he's prob never seen that before and has a lot to gain by shining you on.

However, supplier and KA have nothing to lose if in fact they've made thousands of DWs with bad parts that could flood houses and have even more of them sitting in the warehouse.

In case you're still confused - buy a Miele or Bosch and give KA the finger.

The tech is telling you the truth. I just got the settlement payment from Whirlpool. My failure was identical to joeweb (per his picture) where the clamp broke off. We were home so the damage was not as bad. Whirlpool is a world class company and the settlement allowed me to fix the problem. Once they got the information they needed - they treated me fairly and with a respect. The repair kit is w10548435 and sr#1-1138078244.

Come On Xedos, "Give us all a "Brake" from your
"German Love Fest", and the US Bashing.

I'm "seriously considering buying you a "ONE WAY" ticket to Germany, so you can be by all your "Beloveds", alto you will have to go to Turkey so see some of them, The Bosches.

I have a Miele DW, I like it, but it does not "Walk on Water", and note the above poster was treated fairly and with respect by Whirlpool.

I can "dig up a ton" of examples where Miele has done much less , particularly with their Canadian customers!!!

I have yet to see, even an acknowledgement of the Miele oven temp problems by them, and there all still a lotta folks "Hanging out in the wind" over that one!

You have to treat people (i.e., manufacturers) fairly and with a respect and most likely you will be treated in kind. Nobody makes perfect equipment and I am not perfect and that special. But we can fix and amend best we can, which is the most important part. No manufacturer is out to rip customers or put people in danger (yes, there are some but majority of them are good).

wake up on the wrong side of the bed , or just lookin for a scrap this am Gary ? This one's been dormant about two months !

Are you seriously trying to tell me that a flooded or burnt kitchen is less serious than a flat souffle or a roast that takes 10 min. longer ? These folks can also continue to use their ovens even if the are a PIA, whereas those people with the kitchen Aid ovens that self cleaned them and totally shut down have an expensive paperweight.

I'm also confused why you think I'm America Bashing ? Kitchen Aid - sure, but America ??? I'm as patriotic or more so than the next guy, but not to a fault. I am a large participant in the GLOBAL marketplace , so while I like buying spending domestically and even more in my home town, I won't do so just because you're in my back yard. You've got to have a competitive product or service and not have a dirt bag attitude also. The fact that you were great last decade or you daddy was so and so carries no weight with me today IF your product sux now.

Most Bosch DW's are made in the good ol USA. I'm sure I have no idea what your Turkish reference is about. As far as Canada goes, well..............

If you're just talking about their manuf. operation , perhaps a look at their annual report might be interesting reading. They have more workers in socialist France than Turkey, and both places combined pale to their Indian workforce.

S.America, China, Australasia, on and on and on - they're everywhere. So is UPS which is headquartered down the street from me, so what ?
