Yes, don't use the self-clean feature, they seem to cause lots of problems in lots of models of ovens.

Clean it by hand so he doesn't have to deal with that issue.

Thanks Phil. Thats what he will do in the future that's for sure. if only we could fix it so the fan doesn't run constantly unless he shuts it off at the fuse box..

There are two fans on this model, one behind the panel for cooling the electronic controls and another inside the cavity for convection circulation. I assume it's the control panel fan to which you are referring.

How long is he waiting for the fan to stop before giving up and going for the breaker? Maybe it's on a timed delay and will shut off if he waits long enough.

He says he left it on for 2 hours. and I do think it would have to be the control panel. He has never had this much trouble with an appliance.

Looking at the wiring diagram for that model, the cooling fan is controlled by a simple thermostat. Sounds to me like that has gone bad. That thermostat is actually part of the self cleaning latch motor assembly, though, and not available as a separate part.

If he is even a little bit handy, he should order the latch motor part number 318095956 that I linked and install it himself. If he doesn't feel comfortable doing that he should call a repairman.

If this is the worst problem he has had with an appliance he is a lucky man. LOL!
