Any idea about this hand holding the lantern?

I inherited this and was told it is very old and the only thing worth anything in the house.
Please take a look and share what this is if you know.

No idea but it's interesting that it's a right hand wearing what appears to be a wedding band.

Carved wood - if you can ID the wood, you probably have the place it was made.

For some reason it looks South East Asian to me. Something about the hands strongly resembles the carved hands on Buddhas.
