Sears furniture

| I can't seem to find any information on furniture called Open Hearth. At least this is the name in one of the drawers in dresser. I have a complete bedroom set and no idea if this is truly antique or just looks old! |

Linda, there is a label inside one of the drawers with this information on it. (Sears and Open Hearth but nothing else I could go on)
I will take some pics later today and see what other info I can find. |

| Over on the Garden Web Christmas & Holiday Forum, there's a gal who posted this message back in Dec 22, 2007: In 1946 Sears opened a furniture manufacturing plant in Jackson, MS. They made furniture for Sears only. They made my bedroom suite there. It is "Open Hearth" and I bought it in 1976. |

| No you weren't, terri..........this would be a good place to start to get an idea of whether something was antique or not. I read an ad in an old newspaper not long ago, advertising a sewing cabinet in the Sears Open Hearth line. The paper was from the 1970s. I didn't chime in, because I had no clue how long they'd been carrying that line, but knew they were selling in in the seventies. |

"Sears" used to be Sears Roebuck....they dropped the Roebuck sometime in the 1970s....so if it just says "Sears" you know it's after that.
I have an "antique" walnut spinet desk with a Sears Roebuck label....at least I hope that label is still there! The desk is not a fine antique by any means, but it's cute....and I like that is had a Sears and Roebuck label
