Looks like it has been used for something besides a chair. That little bitty cushion way down in there makes no sense. The seat should be sitting on that upper most area before rim is flat. Never seen chair like that. Maybe from a bar or ship like Queen Mary . Guess someone could have a nautical room in their house.

I think it needs a bigger cushion ... the chair looks like a late 1800s chair, or a copy of one used as a bar stool, but i wouldnâÂÂt want to sit in it.

Makes me think of a commode chair...

I agree with colleenoz, it looks like a commode chair with the removable (unhinged) top missing as well as the 'pot'. However, it has the legs of a piano stool, in which case it is missing the drop-in seat which may have had caning at the top which broke and is why it was thrown away.

If I saw this in the Addams Family's house, I would imagine it to be a piano stool-commode, so you could do two things at once. "That must be Uncle Fester playing The 1812 Overture, I do love his rendition"

uncle fester was a multi tasker lilylore. drop the "chamber pot with a built on lid in. read the am paper and swivel to look outside. victorian era high end living. ......where's that lazy chamber maid?
