how to find reputable dealer to look at my items?

I have collected and inherited many items and am looking for a dealer to possibly come to my house to review/give estimates of value, etc.

I am in northern NJ, and I'm happy to take them to a dealer, but cannot seem to get good recomendation in the area.

I have a jeweler for watches, etc.., but have several possibly valuable silver items, antigue vases, Edmund Darch Lewis paintings, unusual Limoges china settings, etc. I also have an unbelievable coin collection.. Any suggestions? thanks so much

Make very sure that any dealer you ask in for estimates/reviews is not wanting to buy the items he/she is appraising. If you really don't want to get taken....educate yourself as to what you have...and don't sell to anyone who "offers to buy"...

You could post pictures here and ask for information. I know we have one member who is very well versed in antique silver.

I recently sold some Limoges luncheon plates on Ebay for a fair price. You could check for similar items on Ebay.
