And finally, what should I ask for this?

Also probably purchased in the 1920s. Good condition, very few scratches.

Since no knowledgeable person has leapt in, I'd say consult a local *appraiser*, one who has designations, & pay for the appraisal.

Many someone who says (s)he is an appraiser is actually a dealer, & will tell you your piece isn't worth much but will offer to buy it.

Furniture values are especially variable in different parts of the country;
for example, one of my friends, who's always admired golden oak, found a dining table in Nebraska that would have been a steal here;
golden oak is common garden-variety in Nebraska, while it really is "golden" here.

I wish you the best.

RE: And finally, what should I ask for this?

Thanks very much. We have an interested buyer now, just don't know exactly what to ask, but they've made an offer. I will try to find someone in the area who can appraise. Problem is I don't live where the furniture is, so don't know anyone who could recommend someone qualified. In the grand scheme of things, though, I suppose what we get for one piece of furniture isn't really terribly important.
