Are you planning on replacing this headboard? This one looks very precious piece of furniture. I've seen a bed head from an article which looks identical to this that they've come from houses built before 1950.. I've attached the picture I saw.

I would have placed your bedhead somewhere around 1900-1920. Just curious, is that a swallow on the centre panel?

The stylized chrysanthemums and the swallow (if indeed it is such) are both Aesthetic-movement motifs. So are the railroad-track moldings and the chamfered timber work style frame. What kind of wood is it, and how was it originally finished?
