Glass container

Does anyone know what this glass container was used for? Was it for purely decorative purposes? It measures 10" x 6" x 7" tall. I have a smaller one that measures 4.5" x 7.5" x 4.5" tall. Thanks.

I believe it's a fish bowl...I have had several like that over the years. They came in different sizes as I recall.

Linda --- Why am I'm saying this -- I don't know -- but something sticks in my mind about batteries and battery acid. I remember seeing containers like this stored in my grandparents shop on the farm, "Shop" is a generous word for it.

But I think they were used for batteries in some way.

Someone older or smarter than me may remember!

Interesting! I have a glass battery jar which looks like this:

But I also found a jar that looks like this:

However, I don't think the second one is a battery jar...as I could not find a picture of any that looked like that or were that small.
Check the link to see more than you ever want to know about glass jar batteries!

I always sold them as battery jars. People bought them to use as fish bowls etc.

Interesting. I remember seeing one that was about 2 feet tall and I think that someone said that it was a battery jar. I didn't realize that they came in smaller sizes. It looks great filled with small pinecones and greens at the holidays. Thanks for the info.
