Ideas on shipping silver tea set

| We have recently inherited some nice silver pieces (platters, flatware, tea set, etc) but they are half way across the country. Even though we will be traveling back a forth to settle things, now that the airlines search everything you check and are even worse about carry-on, we are wondering how to transport them back?
Has anyone had good luck with a particular carrier that has good insurance?
Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

| Over the years, I've bought quite a large quantity of silver on ebay & most of it was shipped by Priority Mail or UPS - all without problems. For large items like platters & tea sets, UPS will probably be more practical. |

I agree...pack it well...lots of bubble wrap and each piece in a separate box in another box....insure it and send it off!! Linda C |

| Thanks! I will probably look on some websites to get an idea as to value so we can insure them properly. I have just never shipped anything as valuable. |
