Where can I get an appraisal for this Italian ceramic vase?

Posted by amysrq (My Page) on

I am negotiating with the moving company on the value/cost of repair for this vase. It was my MIL's and she probably bought it at auction in the 50's. I don't know if it is valuable or not, but it is very sentimental to us and we'd like to be compensated and hopefully be able to have it repaired.

I'd like to know a rough estimate from anyone here who may know it's value and/or a suggestion on where to get an appraisal. Thanks!

Here's the mark. Cockerel makes me thing of Tuscany...

you can contact any local auction house as many will do written appraisals (which you will have to get if you are looking for this company to cough up the $$)for replacment value but they do charge for this service, They can also point you in the direction of a someone to restore your piece but I would make sure it is of great value before doing this as it will cost you $$$ good luck

Looks Like Deruta. If you don't want to pay for an appraisal, will your movers take a valuation of a similar piece? I've linked to a site that sells Deruta.

I believe it's from the Cantigalli factory.
Can't give you a value....but I can tell you it's worth fixing.
Anyhow that's a place to begin....time frame for being made about 1900 I believe....and I would guess value between $1000 and $1500...perhaps more.
It makes me very sad to see it in pieces.

So very sad. I've sent you an email regarding this.
