Antique chair bottoms

KenOSU

We recently acquired a set of antique oak dining chairs. They have what appears to be black leather seat bottoms that are worn out. They look like they were originally four layers - a bottom layer of woven cane, then a layer of very coarse cloth, a thick layer of what looks like cotton batting, topped by the black leather. Is this likely to be the original composition? Is it possible to buy kits to replace these seat bottoms?
