Looking for Info on Antique Lamp

Posted by Lydia1959 (My Page) on

I found this elaborate lamp (non-working) at a sale today. I couldn't find anything quite like it on eBay, so thought I would ask here. It is very heavy with a double marble look base and additional marble up higher. There are multiple colors of metal on this lamp, a silvery metal and a bronzey color. At the base there is a small metal angel bust on a urn-like shape(seen in last photo). Any ideas on age of this piece? Would it be considered Art Deco? TIA

RE: Looking for Info on Antique Lamp

1920s-30s era, was probably bronze colored finish over "pot metal" castings. It's not clearly "Art Deco". It's just the ornate stuff that was popular in the pre-depression era - swags, urns and naked cherubs abounded.

If cleaned, re-bronzed (use that metallic wax), and rewired, it could be a nice lamp in a vintage house.

And to the above I would add..."With the addition of a fringed shade"...

Yes, a silk shade with long bead fringe would be vrey in keeping iwth the style.
