App for antiques questions

Hi everyone,

I'm working on on a smartphone application (aka. iPhone app) that makes it really easy to post and answer photo based questions wherever you are.

Even though I'm not a antiques expert myself, I'm thinking that this app would be great for questions about collectibles (as they often include photos) and I would love to hear your opinions on it. The app isn't finished yet but to explain and demonstrate the concept I've put up a site here that you can have a look at: http://www.moracle.co/example/

Any general feedback or comments whatsoever?

Would you use it? Why or why not?

Is there any specific features that you would like to have?

Do you think you could use it for other things than collectibles?

Cheers,

Henrik Bohman

(ps. If you want an update as soon as the app is ready, leave your email on http://www.moracle.co/ and I'll keep you posted.)

This sounds very much like somebody peddling their business on this site. Usually these apps have to be applied for (and possibly purchased, as many aren't free).

This person only joined this site on Sep 17, and this is the first post?!?!? Ummm....just MHO only.

Thanks for your concern Linda.

Peddling my business is not what I'm here for, sorry if it came across that way. I'm interested in feedback from your community to know how you're thinking and what features I should prioritize building, and which I should leave be.

Feedback is a very important to me as I otherwise might end up spending time building something that no one wants.

I personally don't know many people that are interested in antiques that I can ask, so that's why I signed up for the forums. And my plan is neither to force people to apply nor to charge money for the app.

Hope that made things a bit clearer?

Cheers,

H

I can see it useful for things like identifying plants and animals.

For antiques, it's not so useful because you often need close-ups of specific features to do a proper ID, and an eclectic and knowledgeable set of question answerers.

They aren't likely to be willing to uproot themselves from eBay or here or other long-lived forums to work on your site for you (I know how it works ... attract eyeballs and the ads and income will follow), so you will get the self-proclaimed experts who can't tell Colonial Revival from 1950s Ethan Allen.
