I have beads that my grandmother called "civil war" beads. They came from her grandfather, Virginia. Wood, round, about the size of a dime maybe a little larger, carved with circles and other designs. Just wondering what I have.

Could they be rose petal beads?

Are they strung or loose? I was wondering if they could be merchant coins that they used at local merchants instead of money (because there wasn't any).
Aren't you going to show us a picture?
