Watt oven ware?

| I know the Watt cookie jars and other pieces with hand painted designs (fruit, etc.) command big prices. But what about the mixing bowls Watt made earlier? I have an old yellow bowl with a green band. The bottom says Watt U.S.A. Ovenware.
Thanks,
Susan

Thanks, Linda. I was browsing eBay yesterday, and discovered that I have more Watt than I'd thought. Several brown bowls (with lids) turned out to be Watt "Loops" yelloware. Also an odd dish that resembles a small pie plate. They don't carry the Watt name, so I had no idea. Susan

Ahhhh, I started collecting Watt pottery way back in the 70's just because I liked the bowls with the apples on them. I wish I had known then about the Rooster pattern because I love that one and it's too expensive to buy now. But what's funny is I bought all of my Wattware for little to no money. Many times I would find 2 or 3 pieces in a antique store and the owner would sell all of it for $5.00 But, that was the 70's and early 80's before Wattware became a *collector's item*!!!! I will never forget my mother mailing me a issue of Country Living magazine and in it was pictures of an apartment and the lady who lived there happened to have an extensive collection of Watt pottery on shelves...I still have that issue from 1984 or thereabouts! That one photograph is what skyrocketed Watt Pottery out of this world!
Good old Country Living!

BTW, I've seen Watt apple pieces going for relatively little money on eBay. The stuff I see at antique shows and better shops is way up there!

I had to admit I didn't know what you were talking about so I looked it up (aren't computers wonderful?) I found a very informative site for it.
Here is a link that might be useful: Watt Collection
Daisy, thanks!

Yes, computers are wonderful. What a cool site--great pictures! My Watt pieces aren't nearly that colorful; they're light brown, with a subtle design of loops. All the different designs are great, though. I just got finished packing mine into boxes--the kitchen demolition starts Monday!!! Susan

I have collected Watt ware for years...or more correctly I 'collected' watt ware years ago...when it was cheap and no one wanted the stuff. So, I've seen the prices go from a few dollars per piece to hundreds of dollars back in the peak of the Watt fever in the early 90's. Prices are coming down and getting somewhat back to normal for certain pieces such as common mixing bowls. The harder to find pieces such as coffee mugs, salt and peppers, etc. will always command a higher price since they are so hard to come by in mint condition. There are identity books just for Watt pottery so is should be easy enough for you to find your bowl in one of those books. They are updated pretty regularly so current market values should be a true value.
