my matching chandelier lamps

I would like to know approximately how old this lamp is. There are two, and they've been on a mantle since the 1950's. They are not marked in any way, they have tubular light bulbs and a small two-prong plug with a plastic cord. Dating these lamps could help solve a mystery.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

The lamps look very 1930 to me....but the plastic cord says later. could that cord be new?

I think it is the original cord, Linda. I doubt anyone that lived in that house would rewire a lamp (or pay to have it done), and the way the cord comes through the marble base it would have been a lot of trouble. They were in a room that hadn't been used in many years, and I had to replace the sockets to get them to work. When did they start using plastic cords? Thanks for your help!

In my memory....post WW II for sure....but how much? There was a period when they used "rubberized" cords....think that was before plastic. And before that those "silk" coated cords.

Are the prisms cut or molded?

I found one very similar online and they describe the prisms as pressed glass. They are claiming 'antique' but I know how that is. Thanks again!

Here is a link that might be useful: similar lamp
