| I would like to know approximately how old this lamp is. There are two, and they've been on a mantle since the 1950's. They are not marked in any way, they have tubular light bulbs and a small two-prong plug with a plastic cord. Dating these lamps could help solve a mystery.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! |

| The lamps look very 1930 to me....but the plastic cord says later. could that cord be new? Linda C |

| I think it is the original cord, Linda. I doubt anyone that lived in that house would rewire a lamp (or pay to have it done), and the way the cord comes through the marble base it would have been a lot of trouble. They were in a room that hadn't been used in many years, and I had to replace the sockets to get them to work. When did they start using plastic cords? Thanks for your help! |

| In my memory....post WW II for sure....but how much? There was a period when they used "rubberized" cords....think that was before plastic. And before that those "silk" coated cords. Are the prisms cut or molded? |

| I found one very similar online and they describe the prisms as pressed glass. They are claiming 'antique' but I know how that is. Thanks again! |
