stoneware or crockery shard needs ID

Posted by crockett561 (My Page) on

I found this shard in an area where a home and hotel from the late 19th century once stood, although I have no idea of the actual age, it could be more recent.

The last 4 letters of the blue stamp on the white shard is "RYLON"

Can anyone identify this manufacturer for me?

Is that a hole in the shard? Looks like it might have been a hanging planter. I'd try pottery companies in your part of the country & see if anything comes up. Is it plain white on other side, a ridge or ring around it ? Perhaps planter held up with chain or wire for hanging on a porch.
