Since you're not fond of it, why not just toss it? The only other solution I can think of is to hand it to another family member who might like to restore it.

It's hard to say if it is worth restoring or not without a photo or other identifying features to help determine the maker.

You may already know, but "Nippon" simply means "Japan" in Japanese; Marking it as a product of Japan. In 1921 it was changed from "Nippon" to read "Japan", or "Made in Japan", so you at least know that it was produced pre-1921.

Based on the size, I wouldn't be at all suprised if it was actually a sake pitcher/urn rather than a vase. :-)

Not likely a saki urn would be made for export....and hence marked Nippon.
I would put it on a shelf with the broken piece to the back.
