 o
help identify antique rocking chair

My grandfather gave me this chair and said it was from 1800's. There are absolutely no markings and I don't necessarily want to get rid of it, but would like to know some history. Any help is greatly appreciated!

From what little I can see (could we have a picture of the whole chair), it seems your grandfather is correct -- 1860-1870, Eastlake influence, possibly walnut. Is it a platform rocker?

It has been partly reupholstered also.
