Lane Cedar chest

Have an old Lane cedar chest, no serial number, I know people get tired of hearing that but there is just a style no. on bottom Style no. 648, S.R. It is pine with cedar inside, the unit is on wheels. Does anyone know what year Lane started using serial numbers?

RE: Lane Cedar chest

1926 according to another person who emailed lane with the same question. Here's the link, and you'll have to use the search text function to find what I'm talking about.

Clarification

The date I gave you is supposedly the date of manufacture.
