Please help identify this medal/pendant

Hello everybody, I need some help so any information regarding the following item would be of great help.

I recently found this medal or pendant i'm not quite sure what it is or how old it is or really anything about it at all but it does seem relatively old despite the "des patent pending" stamped on the back> I am curious to see what it is so i will attach pictures below.

I suspect it's a pendant from the order of the DeMolay

Thank you so much, it does appear to be from the Order of DeMolay, still looking for more onformation on its age and stuff but it appears as thought it may only be as old as 10 years (it has 9 stars encircling the center crest in 2002 the 10th founder died so that would make for 10 stars?)
