 o
Brass cats' origin

Posted by esther_b (My Page) on

I bought a very charming brass cat with a big hook tail on eBay. I use it to hang my keys on. It is hollow, and the big tail is screwed on. I could not find any markings on it. The brass needed cleaning and clearly was not anywhere near new.

I have since seen other brass cats identical to this being sold on eBay, but none of the sellers knows anything about the cats, having purchased them at flea markets, yard sales, etc. One thing I noticed was that all of the sellers were located in the south-central U.S.

Does anyone know anything about the origin/maker of this cute little guy? Thanks.

Here is a link that might be useful: Key cat

I suspect it was made in India, as so much brass is in the past 30 years or so.
I have never seen one like that....looks sort of Botero like.
