Antique trunk

I am unable to identify this trunk. My mother says it was brought from Norway by her grandparents.
Can anyone help? Thank you!

RE: Antique trunk

It's a rather typical trunk of the late 1980's. There is one in my basement brought from Sweden by my MIL's mother.

Thanks for your help. Do you know what that style of lid is called? I have Googled split lid and half lid to no avail.

Here is a better picture of the detail.

Wardrobe trunk.....sometimes called an immigrant trunk....
And of course I meant 1890'S!
Is that embossed metal or leather?

Nice trunk....nicer than mine!
What's the inside look like?

RE: Antique trunk

I figured you meant the 1890's. :)
It is embossed metal.
I didn't know this trunk existed until a week ago. My mother has been storing it in a dank basement. She was going to sell it at her farm auction, but I have talked her out of it. I'm hoping she will sell it to me, so I am trying to find a fair market price on it in its present condition.

RE: Antique trunk

Not a fancy inside.....lots of rust.
Offer her $50...likely more than it would bring and you are both happy.
