Legs

looks like the kind of thing one would have found at pier one several years ago. 80's maybe? its interesting with those funky feet. what are you going to do with it? The top edge looks aluminum though, are the legs hollow? it is probably some sort of alloy/pot metal for the legs. were the legs and edge painted black originally? I would expect the chairs and etc in the matching set would have had the same curly metal legs and maybe some other curvy metal ornamentation.

It could be a custom piece. I'm thinking maybe 70s? Anyhow, it is very cool--it has a eclectic/industrial vibe that is very hot right now. I'd strip the wood down, distress it and stain. Have you checked out 1st Dibs to see if you could find something similar? In the right market, you'd probably fetch a decent price. Good luck

It strikes me more seventies than fifties as well. The legs on the mid-century pieces were usually more Danish modernish if they weren't fake colonial lines.

The top is a wood laminate .... But had been painted yellow, white, then black. I think the top metal is aluminum. The legs are hollow but still very heavy. I really do like the funky look, I think I will clean up the wood, polish the metal and use it in the hubby's music room! I'm sure I could get more than the 3 bucks I paid for it, and I've already gotten my money's worth out of it....but I like a weird conversation piece so I guess I'll keep it around for a bit :)
