| i have an old enameled kitchen table whose enamel top is chipped, so i got it for only $100. i have it on my back porch, and the paint is peeling off pretty bad. i can leave it as is, oil the parts that are exposed to the weather, (i try to keep it out of the rain), or i can repaint it but that would mean stripping it. what is the best thing to do to keep its value? i actually like peeled paint but would like to stop it from continuing. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. |

| You could shellac it, and that thin coat of varnish will act as a fixative to prevent the finish from coming off for a time. There are other materials to use that would be less shiny, but would impart amber color to the table; Zinsser "Sealcoat" is almost as clear as water. Casey |
