I inherited some Royal Doulton figurines and mini-mugs recently. A couple I have positively identified as being made in 1941. I have been unable to date or find a value for this figurine named Sam Weller:

On some of my pieces there is a number '14' which when you add to 27 gives the year 1941. The number is supposed to be to the right of the backstamp. The Sam Weller piece doesn't have a number to the right of the backstamp.

I know next to nothing about antiques. How much does an appraisal cost? Is there a good place on the internet to sell this type of stuff?
