Vintage lamp--can you identify?

Posted by mama_goose (My Page) on

My grandfather gave me this lamp in the early 1970's. It was purchased at auction, and appeared to be old, even then. It's very heavy, and quite worn. We have rewired it, and other than adding a new harp, which can be removed, haven't altered it. Can anyone tell me what style it is, who made it, and when? Thanks for your help.

Here is a link that might be useful: vintage lamp

Looks oriental, which doesn't help because they've been making brass things for a long time.

Unless you find a maker's mark, or a picture of it in a reference book, you are the owner of a brass lamp that is at least 40years old, maybe more.

Thanks for taking a look, lazygardens. Maybe I'll see one someday on 'Antiques Roadshow'!
