Hi, I have purchased a very old antique oil painting at an estate auction, and am interested to learn of the artist, but I cannot make it out. I would appreciate any help you might can offer. Thanks!

beachnut, I just saw your old post, and the name looks like "G. Cox" to me. I checked askart.com, and I don't see an artist by that name. He may be European, or I may be reading it wrong.

Sorry, I meant I don't see an artist of that name who fits the description of the painting - they're all 20th century.

The signature might be C. or G. Cox.
