Old Moxie bottle??

Posted by klseiverd (My Page) on

Bought it today at a yard sale for $1. VERY heavy... weighs 1.75 lbs. Bought it cuz in nice shape (tiny chip on bottom edge) and blue/green glass will add to my collection (old Mason jars). There are bubbles in the glass. On bottom, it has raised...WT CO with a 4 underneath.

Any input?

RE: Old Moxie bottle??

What kind of label? What size? There were a lot of Moxie bottles.....and cans!! For $1 and at 1.75 pounds I would think it may be a "decorator item".

Bottle is straight-sided, about 3" in diameter, and a little over 10" tall. Tho not an "expert", I'm comfortable saying it's OLD for real and not just made to look old. On 2 sides of the "shoulder" (just below the start of the neck)... raised letters "MOXIE", in a slight curve. On body of bottle againi "MOXIE" in a straight line... on one side (in smaller raised letters) something about patent.

RE: Old Moxie bottle??

im thinking Moxie was made here in Pa..possibly Hanover Pa

RE: Old Moxie bottle??

It was made originally in Maine, them Lowell, Mass. And finally in New Hampshire.
Web sources say it's been sold to a Japanese firm.
